I fight it every step of the way!! Actually, I'm pretty coastal and the winters aren't as bad as inland. Altho' I did spend the last 3 winters in central Maine.....hmmmm! Wood stoves and good books are my wintertime companions, with the occasional stint at the sewing machine. Happy Valentine's Day, Heather! ~karen
Meg - Yup. I'm kinda sad that the flocking of the trees has all blown/melted away, though. That was the prettiest part, to me. Macro filter on the snowflake shot, btw... I think I'm going to do a quick post on here about those filters just so everyone can see what I'm using.
I'm Heather, and I consider myself in the "serious hobbyist" category of photography. My favorite subjects are those found in nature, but I also love taking pictures of animals (especially our dogs) and food. I invite constructive criticism on this blog, so if you have any suggestions about composition, technique, lighting, etc, please let me know in the comments section. I look forward to your feedback.

In case you're wondering, I shoot with: * Nikon D50 DSLR body (discontinued), with 18-55mm kit lens and 55-200mm zoom lens * +1, +2 and +4 macro filters, polarizing filter, neutral density filter * Vivitar tripod

Such a winter wonderland! An entry way into a land of wonder! Looks irrestible, even to a non-winter person like me! Lovely shot, Heather.
Karen - You live farther north than I do and you say your not a winter person? Interesting...
