Today's Picture Spring prompt is "Awakening," where Tracey encourages us to "Capture something that is just waking up with the welcoming warmth of the season and honor it, I see you little one."
This is some Lily of the Valley that is coming up in my garden. I really doctored this one in Picasa, boosting the saturation multiple times, plus a few other modifications. I like the glowing effect that I ended up with.

How do you get the blur in the background to be so... blurred? Do you add a layer then the blur & then erase around the subject that you want clear? I've done that before but I just don't think everyone does it that way. I love that real blurry background, but my camera doesn't do it itself, of course, I just have a lil digital camera to work w/ - nothing special! Heheheee
Tricia - There might be a way to get your camera to do it. Try doing a search for "shallow depth of field point and shoot" or something like that. When the background is blurry like that the image is said to have a shallow depth of field, and I get that look due to the camera settings I use. I've never tried it with my point and shoot, but I've read that some success can be had in "macro" mode on some point and shoots. Good luck!
what an amazing awakening....I wanna experience what this photo has captured hehe
Candace - Wake up, sleepy head! ;)
